For example, if you look at barchart's 3-year stock leaders for the best performing stocks, you would see about ten stocks that are ten baggers or higher. Meaning they went up at least 1000% with one (VIPS) going up 5000%.
So I know there are stocks out there which are capable of hitting the ten baggar status, but knowing which stocks to pick is the tricky part. My search always comes to either penny stocks or Thomas Bulkowski’s website.
Watch out for those penny stocks scams though, there are way too many websites and salespeople that are trying to hock the latest penny stock craze. The stocks are highly volatile and manipulated. You'll probably lose money after the scammers cash out on the higher stock price and letting the stock crash.
Oh and the reverse stock-split, barchart.com (any maybe others) does this thing where it shows a huge percentage gain, even though the value of the stock is the same after the reverse stock-split.
Example: stock is trading at $0.25, but it is now worth $1.00 due to the split. Price did go up, but the value is the same. No real gains.
There are legitimate penny stocks though. Take SCSS, the bed makers, which was a penny stock. They ran into trouble with the 2007-2008 crash, but after a year or so, the stock price sky rocketed into ten bagger status.
Biotech companies could do the same when they have a promising new drug or some other device that's pending an FDA approval. A lot of the biotech companies are penny stocks, so it's just a matter of knowing which ones are going to be successfully approved by the FDA.
(Side note: I bought LJPC maybe two years and I'm glad I did, the stock is up almost 500% today. I can't find why I bought it though. I looked through my google search history and came up empty. I should really keep track of why I buy these stocks.)
If only I had paid attention and had the courage, I could be close to being a millionaire. Same thing with netflix (NFLX), I saw the writing on the wall in 2002-2004, but didn't pay any attention the company's stock or how many people were being subscribed. Blockbuster and Hollywood video also struggled around this time as netflix became more popular.
Also the stock market crash in 2008, I knew and saw the news about it, even my dad talked about it, but I didn't pay attention any of it. Had I did, I would have bought shares in a lot of companies because they were available at really deep discounts.
You would be rich!!
Pay attention and have courage.
